At that moment, the car received a side impact and two passengers were injured ” explained Mindaugas Džermeika, head of the Klaipėda Road Police Service.
The obstacle is on the right
The driver seems to have forgotten the so-called right-hand principle, in which the road must yield to the person entering the intersection from the right.
The driver of the Honda car is expecting inconvenience. Not only was the man at fault for the occupants of his car who were injured, but he could also face more severe penalties.
“If the doctors assess the injuries of the passengers as insignificant, the traffic accident will be investigated in accordance with administrative law.” However, if it turns out that even if a passenger suffered minor injuries, a pre-trial investigation can be initiated, ”said M. Dzermeika.
Offers to build signs
This is not the first time an accident has occurred at this location. Police officers had already assessed the situation at the intersection.
“We had already informed the Municipality’s Transport Directorate. However, no solution has been reached. We request again after this event. I think it is necessary to draw a traffic graph and have traffic signs to appear to mark the main and side roads. We will analyze if a horizontal sign is needed that prohibits the parking of cars before the crossing, because they make visibility difficult ”, assured M. Dzermeika.
He admitted that due to the rebuilt roundabout on Avenida Baltijos, many drivers are trying to avoid traffic jams by driving on the parallel street of Autopista Šilutė. Drive to the Vilnius highway through the courtyard of the Banginis shopping center.
