Tauragė fire chief came to work with coronavirus: I took medication and it was no longer dangerous

Last week, the Tauragė District Court awarded R. Masolas 3,000. a fine of 1000 euros for violating article 277 of the Penal Code, which establishes responsibility for the violation of the rules to fight epidemics or communicable diseases. According to the court, it put those around them at risk of developing coronavirus.

I felt healthy

The convict Delfi himself said that in December of last year he began to cough a little, the temperature rose. He was diagnosed with pneumonia at the hospital and at the same time he underwent a COVID-19 test, which came back positive. According to the interlocutor, he was also preparing for treatment at home.

“But the doctor said, lurking in the hospital will give you the drug where Donald Trump was cured, Remdesivir, it will put you on your feet,” he said.

Doctors discharged the head of the Tauragė district municipality fire service, who had been in hospital for 8 days, for further treatment at home.

“I went home on my own two feet, of course, wearing a mask, I watched him, but I walked freely through the admission department,” he recalled when he returned from the hospital.

The next day, Masol decided to come to work for a short time because he left his wallet with all the documents in his office.

He claimed to have complied with safety requirements, wearing a mask and gloves, and not having contact with anyone. Still, his subordinates told the court that they were afraid to see the boss at work.

“I saw him climb the stairs, I knew what he was fed up with, so I got scared, I closed my office. After I left, I ran into colleagues talking to each other, who were outraged that Masolas, who had just been released from the hospital, was walking through the building. The police arrived early and wondered if we had seen him that day. I said I saw it, “an employee testified.

Officers immediately rushed to search for the man who was supposed to be in solitary confinement, rushed home, and agreed to drive. Mr. Masol, who had worked for the police for many years, explained that he had come to solve the emergency and asked not to register the crime. However, the former colleagues did not consider the request and were prosecuted.

Speaking to Delphi, Mr. Masol stated that he had not posed any danger to anyone and that criminal proceedings had been initiated against him without justification. He claimed at the hospital that he had heard that he could no longer infect the virus after the drugs he drank.

“It wasn’t just the doctors, nurses and supervisors who said that after those drugs, it was no longer dangerous for anyone. There are articles on Remdesivir that prevent the virus from multiplying after these medications. Actually, it couldn’t even theoretically infect anything. I thought they would charge me an administrative fine, like everyone else, but no, I was prosecuted. They told me that something could have infected me, although I did not agree with anything, of course I saw the companions a few meters away, but I was wearing a mask and so on ”, R. Masol got angry.

In court, explanations didn’t help.

However, the court noted that before being released from the hospital, Mr. Masol had signed documents in which he promised to isolate himself at home and not go anywhere.

“I signed without reading anything,” he said. – The doctor did not explain anything to me, he brought two sheets with verification marks and told me to sign. He prescribed medicine for me, said I would be unable to work until January 8. And that’s it “.

Tauragė District Court Judge Raimonda Pauparienė, who examined the case, was not convinced by these excuses.

Although the defendant does not plead guilty and alleges that he could not infect other people with a dangerous disease because he was treated at the hospital and discharged healthy at his home and signed without reading the doctor’s documents, witness statements, official reports, videos, etc. . ”, – read in the sentence.

The judge pointed out that the isolation commitment document was not only signed by R. Masol.
“But he also filled in the necessary column, so he was forced to read to find out what information needed to be entered into the document. The defendant has higher education and works, so his position that he did not read the aforementioned documents and did not understand what he signed should be considered as his defensive position, ”the judge pointed out.

Go revenge

Masol himself promises to appeal the sentence, which has not yet entered into force, to a higher court.

He said that he had won several cases against the police in Tauragė, where he had previously worked, for which he suspected that they might retaliate for him.

Last year, he triumphed in the Supreme Court when he proved that the police unreasonably fined him for bending over a solid line, despite the man not committing such a violation.

Mr. Masol hinted that he had been fired when he was deprived of permission to work with classified information, but he proved in court that it was done illegally. He said he was entitled to unpaid wages and a civil servant’s pension.

“It just came to our attention then. I just found an opportunity to bury,” said the interlocutor.

This case is not ordinary. Although dozens of people were similarly trapped, almost all pleaded guilty and the process ended simply with a criminal warrant, without a court trial. And Masolo’s story will have to be judged by a higher court.

“I can even go to Strasbourg, but of course it is very expensive”, the interlocutor is determined to prove his truth.

He admits that he violated quarantine requirements and would pay the administrative fine without dispute.

“But I don’t feel like I did anything that could lead to a criminal case. Well, a fine is possible if I violated a formal quarantine requirement. But that statement was only formal, I was healthier than some who were walking down the street at that time. And it’s not just my opinion, it is also shown by blood tests. And that there are a certain number of days to invest, still does not mean anything. If he’s healthy, and they tell you, don’t go anywhere for another six months and quarantine him. In accordance with the established procedure. Clearly, they must be followed. But the real threat is that I don’t see how it could infect me. And the prosecutor says he didn’t even have to get infected. Quarantine is, and everything. That’s fine, but in that case, maybe an administrative fine, “said R. Masolas.
