A. Užkalnis on the “Great March for the Defense of the Family”: This is not the part of Lithuania where you want to be

On Saturday afternoon the column of the “Great Family Defense March” from Klaipeda arrived in the capital. Politicians, neighbors and well-known people have expressed their opinion on this march a little earlier. The writer and journalist Andrius Užkalnis expressed his opinion about the people taking part in the protest. According to a famous man, this is not the part of Lithuania you want to be close to.

Why did I write so much on the go? Do not intimidate. Even those who wrote and promised mentally are not a threat in reality. There is little aggression, more insecurity, confusion and sadness, and the aggression is self-directed. Not to pay. I know that those who sell anything always play with purchased authors, but I make enough money elsewhere. Not just to keep readers happy. That’s it, and it’s part of my job: when you see stereotypes, it’s the writer’s job to exploit them, distort them, light them up with fun lights and make them entertaining. If anyone is offended by this, it is their choice. But the main reason is that I don’t want those who spread hatred and want to interfere in the lives of others to speak on my behalf. “We are a nation”, they say, but I am not a worse nation than you, and homosexuals are our nation, and a Ukrainian or Russian immigrant who arrived yesterday is already our nation. Now and today, and not when you pass the exam or receive a stamp ”, wrote A. Užkalnis on the social network.

I’ve heard enough uninvited recommendations about who to live with and what I can and shouldn’t love.

The writer also shared his thoughts on the concept of family. “My family is a full-fledged family, when Fausta and I are at that time, not when the regulators waving flags allow us to. No worse than yours. Even a little better, because we don’t fly to explain to others what their families should be, what is fair, what is traditional, what contributes to morale or raising children in overalls. I’ve heard enough uninvited recommendations about who to live with and what I can and shouldn’t love. Nowadays, it no longer stalks and makes you laugh, but not all of them are very strong that they are not affected by the screams of the angry ushers of a strange life. Gone are the days when old shopkeepers would glide down the streets of unknown young parents and tell the child to tie a scarf. Now trying to do it sword politely, ”the man wrote on Facebook.

“Yes, my part of Lithuania will meet today in the park, which does not need my permission, blessing or my opinion in general (I would not be very sure of the opinion, because many of them come to me very actively). But this is not the part of Lithuania you want to be close to. I think they can say the same about me in a similar way, although again, I wouldn’t be sure about that because they communicate and hug with such passion. If they’re just happy, I’m not sorry ”, – A. Užkalnis finished the post on the social network.
