“We are looking for a mayor, the current one, to make sure there is not just billboards and public relations campaigns, and a new one who is socially responsible,” says the campaign’s social media page.
“Get out of rage,” “Give us the mansion,” announced the inscriptions on the posters. About 70 campaign participants gathered near the municipality, including members of the opposition Lithuanian Christian Democratic faction Unión Patria in the town hall.
According to the organizers, the residents of Kaunas have not received the attention of Mayor V. Matijošaitis and his representatives for several years to solve the most important problems of the city and the opinion of local residents is being ignored.
“We want to be free residents of Kaunas, who decide for themselves how they want to live. It’s a shame, but the Kaunas communities have not received the mayor of Kaunas for several years, ”wondered Vita Gelūnienė, leader of the Žemieji Šančiai community.
The campaign took place at the main municipal headquarters in Laisvės Alley at 5 pm, when all the employees had already finished their work. V. Matijošaitis himself, after learning about this initiative, only smiled.
