According to Agnė Jasinavičiūtė, Head of the Landscape Protection Division of the State Service of Protected Areas of the Ministry of Defense, for the convenience of visitors to the protected areas, she wanted to put rest areas, camps and places where bonfires could be created – on a map.
There are cases where people create bonfires even in the dunes protected by the Curonian Spit National Park.
It should be remembered that protected areas are the most sensitive natural areas where rare species live, where landscape complexes are protected and what the Law of Special Land Conditions cannot establish there.
In order for the visitor to better understand the values and opportunities of protected areas, a new website was created: www.saugoma.lt. With the start of the intense travel time, we have developed a separate map for the summer with campsites, campsites and resorts in protected areas so that we can rest comfortably and safely in nature.
We remind you that bonfires can only be built in campsites, resorts and campsites, where there are equipped and specially designed and prepared places. These chimneys are surrounded on all sides by a mineralized zone no narrower than 0.5 meters, and a strip of forest cover has been removed around them. There are no dry grass, trees, peat soil, or other flammable materials near the fireplace.
If a visitor promises to build a bonfire in a protected area but is unsure whether the bonfire is legally installed, it is always advisable to first call the staff of the protected area directorates to find out if a bonfire is possible in a protected area. Private location. You can find all the contacts of the protected area directorates on the new website – saugoma.lt
