When Lithuania got the heat, the Palanga resort was in a hurry to prepare for the summer season: construction of the changing huts on the central beach started in late April, although at that time there was no spirit on the beaches and the people. He walked the streets in warm coats.

Service companies are starting to build 14 rescue posts, next week container toilets will be transported, of which there will be six on the beaches of Palanga and one in Šventoji.

A novelty for cyclists

Free toilets will be available from June, but if it’s hot at the end of May and people gather on the beaches, public services promise to open the toilets without waiting for the start of the summer calendar.

This week, a municipal sand-cleaning machine is already rumbling by the sea, due to clean the beaches of Palanga in June, and will move to Šventoji in early summer.

A novelty awaits holidaymakers who go to the beach by bicycle this year: 7 wooden parking lots with tiers will be placed at the main exits to the beaches, to which bicycles can be attached.

Each of these parking lots will be equipped with 8 to 16 spaces for bicycles.

Lovers of active recreation will find a renovated paved path to the sea near the playground and a lighted volleyball court next door.

There are also free places

As of Saturday, parking in Palanga is already paid. This year, the number of ATMs has increased to 57.

For the first time, parking is also taxed in Šventoji: there are around 40 parking spaces in the Antanas Valiuška alley leading to the church, and the paid parking lot next to the new town square will have capacity for more than 50 cars.

Parking is also taxed in new places in Palanga: in the parking lot near Nemirseta beach, rebuilt in the western part of Gintaro street and almost the entire Maironis street.

In the red and yellow zones, the parking fee remained the same at 1.2 and 0.6 euros. The hourly rate has gone from € 1.7 to € 2 in the most expensive green area closest to the sea.

This will make tourists more used to walking or cycling.

After hearing the allegations about the rate increase, the director of the Bronius Martinkus Toll Center denies that the parking rates at the complex have not changed since the introduction of the toll, and reminded vacationers that the hourly rate at the Vilnius’s most expensive parking area is even higher: 2.5 euros.

According to him, there are still a lot of free parking spaces in Palanga, from where it is about a 10-minute walk to the tourist center or the beaches.

It is a large parking lot near the stadium in the southern part of the city, several parking lots between Klaipėda Highway and Taikos Street, a fenced parking lot near the police station, several dozen parking spaces in the western part of Bangų Street. and Vytauto street. in front of the Rehabilitation Hospital.

Rescuers also start working

Rescuers also start working on the beach starting Saturday. Until June, there will only be a central rescue station with 4 rescuers on duty.

With the beginning of summer, a total of 17 posts will be opened in Palanga and Šventoji, which will initially employ about 50 rescuers, and their number will increase to 80 by mid-summer.
