In April, Palanga politicians decided to change the parking fee system in force since 2012. The goal is to reduce parking in the most sensitive areas of the city and ensure that the expected revenue is collected for the budget.
It has been decided that the toll will be charged daily throughout the day from May 15th. Until 15 September. at toll booths and on curbs. Parking in the most expensive green zone becomes more expensive: it will cost 2 euros instead of the previous 1.7 euros. In the red and yellow areas, the rates remain the same: 1.2 euros and 0.6 euros, respectively.
Adjustable and Pay Areas – New places appear where you will have to pay for parking. The most expensive green area this weekend includes a car park at Topolių st. 4, to the red zone – Gintaro str. section of Maironio str. a Smilčių st., parcel territory Klaipėdos pl. 7C towards the sea and parking, Maironio street. section of Žvejų st. to Gintaro street. in the west, A. Valiuškos al., to the yellow zone – Plytų str. Vasario 16-osios section c. to Kretingos str.
Parking is also charged in Nemirseta and Šventoji, where one hour of parking costs 1.2 euros. Parking near the central Plaza Santa got into the most expensive green zone.
When considering a tax change proposal, some resort politicians suggested charging a higher toll for parking at some spots throughout the year, not just during the season, but the idea has so far not received support.
