Unique secretaries of the city have revived in Šilutė

“This is a unique project that reveals Šilutė life a hundred years ago with the help of small architectural elements. The idea of ​​taking an interest in the history of the city and telling it through a popular game in childhood arose by chance. And the surprise and wave of good emotions on social media and the reaction of society after the installation of the first “secretary” showed that we reached the top ten, “says Andrius Sirtautas, creative director of” Šilutė secretaries “and professor at the Šilutė School of Art.

According to him, the 20 “secretaries” were created by children and adults who attended classes at the art school. “The secretaries of Šilutė, who reveal the secrets of life in the city, look impressive and we hope they will encourage the residents of the country to visit Šilutė just for them. According to him, Šilutė First and Vydūnas Gymnasium, Pamaris and Martynas Jankus Basic basic schools contributed to the project. His students leafed through the archives with their teachers, read the newspapers of the time, and collected material on the city’s historic houses. “The joint projects of Šilutė Art School, the municipality and Šilutės baldai are decorating the city for the first time. A few years ago, the entire city community contributed to the creation and drawing of Šilutė’s longest yearbook: the Šilutė Wall, which records the country’s most important events and personalities. This “Šilutė sekretai” project is exceptional, not so in any Lithuanian city. I hope that in the future there will be no shortage of non-traditional ideas and that Šilutė is famous as the most creative city in the country, ”says the mayor of the Šilutė district municipality, Vytautas Laurinaitis.

At the “secretaries Šilutė” presentation event, some “secretaries” revived. At the end of the event, in the courtyard of the Hugo Šojus manor house, the mayor of the Šilutė Secretaries thanked the creators and implementers of the Šilutė Secretaries, giving them gifts with fish with the Šilutė milestone in memory. Šilutils baldai donated tickets to the Palace of the Rulers to all the schools in the city that contributed to the project, and the art workshop of artist Marius Jonutis to the art department of the art school.
