According to Aleksandras Siakki, Deputy Director of JV Klaipedos Beaches, preparations for the summer season are underway, the beaches of Smiltyne are almost ready and small works are still being carried out on the Melnragė-Giruliai stretch of beach.
“Almost everything is ready in Smiltyne, now the employees are preparing the Melnragė-Giruliai stretch of beach. Changing rooms, benches, bins have already been built there, and this week all the garbage washed up by the sea is handled, registered, the staff manages and cleans the beaches so that they not only look beautiful, but are also pleasant for vacationers. The toilets have started working, we are also renovating the beach posts and landmarks, ”said A. Siakki about the preparatory work.
By May 15, all work to prepare the beaches for the summer season should have been completed, but rescuers will be on duty at the beaches only after the director of the Klaipeda City Municipal Administration signs an order that officially announces the start of the season.
“We are working at full speed, we have to prepare in mid-May. There are still fountains and showers to build for vacationers, who will be in Melnrage, Melnrage II, Disabled Beach, Giruliai and Smiltyne this year near the central rescue station. The selection of rescuers has already finished, their training will be held soon, so more than 60 rescuers will work on the beaches at the beginning of the summer season ”, assured A. Siakki.
A new rescue post was also installed between I Melnrage and II Melnrage.
“There will also be a new wooden path to facilitate the arrival of people to the beach. Some tracks will be updated, others will be reinstalled so that people can come from I Melnrage to the rescue station. In fact, a lot of work had to be done before excavating the sand tracks. But we are preparing, we are waiting when summer and warm weather finally arrive, ”said A. Siakki.
