Martynas Čerkauskas, a journalist who has lived in Valencia for four years, says that Spain is now recovering like never before, on May 9. After the lifting of the state of emergency, the Spanish “ash”.
He equates the bustle of the people in the streets with the Kaziukas fair that takes place in Vilnius and draws crowds.
“Yesterday I looked at photos of different cities, it was even so worrying that it could end up here. From Saturday to Sunday, when the state of emergency ended, there were crowds in the main cities of Spain, especially young people. Of course, I was consuming alcoholic beverages, there were no masks, it really is so much anxiety if there will be any consequences ”, he tells the news portal tv3.lt.
For those who want to stay, the most suitable time.
According to M. Čerkauskas, there were no major restrictions in Spain during the second wave of the pandemic, so tourists were welcome and were able to come to the country with a negative COVID-19 test without much difficulty.
“The biggest difference is that the lifting of the state of emergency allows travel within the country between regions, which was previously prohibited. There was also a curfew, which started differently in many regions of the country: at 10 p.m. in some places. , at 23 in others and at midnight in other regions.
At the moment, that curfew has been abolished in many regions, but there are still where it still acts as a “safety net”, but I don’t know if it will last long, “he says.
Bars and cafes have been open in Spain since March. Unlike in Lithuania, you can sit inside.
M. Čerkauskas does not notice the price change. According to him, the prices are the same as before the pandemic, but for those who want to stay cheaper, now is the best time.
“With 20 times fewer tourists than usual, rental companies have been hit hard and prices have fallen. Car rental has become very cheap, hotels and apartments have become cheaper.
We drove ourselves for Easter by the sea, we got this very nice apartment very cheap. We took two bedrooms, we paid 100 euros a day, when before it was 150 euros ”, says a Lithuanian resident in Valencia.
To Greece and Italy – from May 15
Like Spain, other European countries await tourists. Tourists will be able to visit Greece and Italy from May 15.
According to Audrius Morkūnas, founder of the Greek travel agency Mano Crete, it will be possible to come to Greece without the mandatory self-isolation of the EU, the Schengen countries and the countries whose list is published by the country itself.
This country will be waiting for visitors who have a vaccination program (if they have two vaccines, then fourteen days must have passed since the second vaccination, then no additional documentation will be required, just a vaccination certificate) or a negative COVID-19 test at the latest 72 hrs. before arriving in the country.
“The flights of Lithuanian tour operators, direct flights from Vilnius are scheduled for May 15-16,” adds A. Morkūnas.
In Italy, tourists will not be quarantined and those who arrive there will also be greeted with a negative coronavirus test.
“Before, tourists could not come to Italy, they could only come for work or, for important reasons, if they lived for family or work reasons. And now all the tourists from May 15th. They are welcome, and most importantly, there will be no need to quarantine on arrival. This person will get off the plane and can go wherever they want, ”says Eglė Skulskytė, guide in Rome.
Those who wish to take the test can do so on all the main streets in Italy where there are mobile points.
“Across the country, tests cost only 22 euros, they can be done very easily, you just have to register, but very often they accept without registering, and after 15 minutes. The response is already being received, much faster than in Lithuania ”, continues the guide.
At the moment, in both countries, unlike Spain, there is a curfew and masks are mandatory in all public places.
In Greece, the curfew is valid until 9 p.m., and in Italy, life stops after 10 p.m.
A little less entertainment
So far, neither in Greece nor in Italy, most of the entertainment is open, but outdoor cafes and outdoor attractions are already waiting for people.
“Everything is opening up a bit, on May 3 they opened open-air cafes and pubs, taverns and restaurants. Since the temperature here is around 25 degrees during the day, most of the outdoor cafes are already welcoming visitors. Now, they are opening up a bit of other places, ”says the director of the travel agency in Crete.
Museums will open in Greece from May 14, and open-air cinemas will open from May 21 and open-air concerts will open from May 28.
The guide in Rome also says that all restaurants and bars are currently open outdoors, and most attractions will be able to open from May 15.
Open air museums are already open and waiting for tourists: “You could go to the Colosseum or the Vatican Museums today, even today, they are safe now and visitors are really welcome. Of course, so far there is still vacancy and there are not many tourists, so there will be no need to queue. Tourists have a real opportunity to see Italy as it has been for a long time. “
As in Spain, prices in these countries did not rise during the pandemic, and the most favorable holidays for vacationers are expected in May-June.
“In fact, prices are much lower than usual this season. And this trend is likely to continue until July, and in July-August, anyone who pre-orders can rent a cheaper car and house.” says A. Morkūnas.
All three countries are among the countries that offset the additional costs of feeding, living and treating sick COVID-19 tourists.
