The businessman clarified that he has no plans to develop a Lithuanian vaccine.

“Don’t say we created ours, we should work with someone who has created and who lacks the production capacity to do more. I’m not really going to create, you need to be awfully rich to create. Do you know how much the state gave Pfizer to develop the vaccine? <…>. One billion, “said V. Bumelis.

The businessman thanked the ministry for showing attention.

“Sometimes I have the impression that Lithuanians don’t know much about what we have and what we have developed. These meetings and your attention help us to understand that we have an excellent high-tech industry and well-developed biotech companies. We are ready to develop various biotechnological processes and vaccine production is a biotechnological process ”, said V. Bumelis.

He stressed that learning those things alone is not enough.

“We need to make it clear to all of Europe that we have opportunities, we can expand and move forward,” Bumelis said.

I could start in a year

The idea of the entrepreneur is to expand the production line of active material. According to him, it would be possible to cooperate with the Latvians: they have capabilities that the Lithuanians lack.

“We have an active material production line. We do not have the capacity to produce bottles. They must be manufactured in millions, the active ingredient in bottles, we don’t have that.

Our Latvian brothers have always been very active and had bottling factories. In my opinion, they promise to develop an even larger bottle production capacity. “If we cooperate, we make active material, we have the ability to do it, we give our Baltic brothers to make bottles, it would really be a great contribution to the European cause in the fight against the global struggle,” said V. Bumelis. .

According to the businessman, if agreements with companies are signed today, they could start a year later. At the same time, he stressed that there is room for other businesses to operate in this area.

Thermo Fisher: great, we bow our heads; there will be more, please <…> “May we all fight against that horror,” said V. Bumelis.

Armonaitė: we want to show our capabilities to decision makers in Europe

The Minister of Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė, who visited the company, thanked her manager for showing “the amazing things she does here in Lithuania and Vilnius”.

“We are familiar with the possibility of producing medicines and vaccines to help develop a treatment for coronavirus. It is obvious that in Lithuania we not only have success stories with international companies, but we can also create success stories with Lithuanian companies, developing with success both medicines and components of vaccines and vaccines in Europe that would help to overcome the coronavirus ”, said A. Armonaitė.

The Minister said that now her aim is to show our decision makers in Europe our capabilities, that it is also possible to develop these highly advanced technologies here in Lithuania.
