Until the last moment, they were expected not to be on their premises during the fire, but the bodies found in the night shattered any hope: the three Lithuanians died. One of the dead is Aurimas Kleinas, 31, from Alsėdiškės (Plungė district), who arrived in a foreign country just a couple of weeks ago.
Fire in a Lithuanian apartment
According to the Dutch press, the fire occurred in an apartment inhabited by Lithuanians. Although the cause of the fire is not yet known, the director of the company assures that the houses were in order and the immigrants from Lithuania lived in very good conditions. Therefore, until it is clear why the Lithuanian apartment caught fire, they were asked not to speculate and wait for the officials’ conclusions.
It took more than 7 hours to stop the fire. After all, the fire moved from the house to the company office and part of the workshop. The burning flames were extinguished by abundant forces of fire.
The bodies of burned Lithuanians were only found at night, when firefighters entered the immigrant-inhabited compound after the fire was extinguished. It is true that the dead are our compatriots, confirmed only on Monday.
Lithuanians, including A. Klein, according to foreign media, were not employees of the company where they lived. The victims worked for the company with which the company cooperates. According to the owner of the company, the three Lithuanians who died worked in another company and helped only temporarily. “This is terrible news,” he lamented. Several other people who lived in another apartment in the complex were able to escape in time.
The body burned beyond recognition
His relatives were immediately informed about the fire in the apartment of our compatriots. According to Ernestas Klein, Alsėdis’s brother, who died after the accident, was told that “Žemaitis”. On Sunday morning, A. Klein’s wife, Vita, received news from the Netherlands that the apartment of her husband and his companions was on fire. After calling A. Klein’s employers, they assured that Lithuanians were being searched everywhere, but the searches were unsuccessful, at least for the time being, so it is likely that both her husband and the other two Lithuanians were in an apartment on fire.
But loved ones were in no rush to think of the worst. According to the deceased brother, everyone thought that Aurimas and his colleagues had left or gone somewhere. “We had no bad thoughts, we still hoped that there would be no Aurimo in the apartment, but in the evening we received a call with the news that the remains of three people had been found in the apartment where the fire broke out.” Klein recalled. Among the living.
The man currently lives with the concern of transporting the body of the deceased. It is true that Lithuanian employers take care of that. They promised to cover the costs of transporting the remains. However, it is not yet clear when it will be possible. The bodies of the dead are badly burned, so evidence is needed to identify them. In addition, the relatives have to decide whether they want to incinerate Aurim’s remains or even put them in his coffin.
“We have to find the most acceptable solution for both me and my mother and Vita. But the body will probably be cremated,” said the man in pain. And he added that he is grateful to the bosses of the deceased brother, who, in their words, support and morally – they call, ask if they need any help. In addition, they promised to take care not only of the transport of the remains to Lithuania, but also of the cremation, if their relatives so desired.
“It just came to our knowledge then. We are in ignorance, because it is not clear when we will be able to bury Aurima,” said the brother of the dead Alsėdiškis.
There was a lot of pain and … there was debt
Without a man with three children, a son and daughters, Vita cannot believe this cruel message. “My husband went to work to improve the life of the family, and he is gone …” tearful woman.
According to her, Aurimas left two weeks ago because the family needed money. He wanted to improve his life and pay off his debts. Lithuanian wages were not enough for a young family to live in dignity, so the spouses decided to return abroad, where their income was much higher. This is how Aurim opened in Nydrland.
“The living conditions there were very good, the man did not complain about anything. I enjoyed the work, I did it. We had planned that he would return from vacation in June, but we would not be able to do it anymore ”, the young woman spoke without holding back tears and remembered the gloomy May 2, when she received the news of the fire.
“Until the last second, we believed that Aurimas was alive … I tried to contact him many times, but there was no connection anymore. It’s difficult for me to talk about it.”
Even at such a difficult time for her family, Vita did not forget to rejoice in the goodness of the people. According to her, many turn to extend her helping hand. “I am sincerely grateful to everyone,” said the alsediana, who was overwhelmed by grief, and did not hide that after the death of her spouse, she was left not only with excruciating pain, an emptiness, but also a debt. The remaining one with three children, the youngest of whom barely has three, does not know how to return them. And the family will have to live on something.
Invite to donate
In the immediate aftermath of the disaster, a cry for help from late brother E. Klein spread on Facebook. The young man, who had lost one of his closest people, turned to people of good will and asked them to extend a helping hand to the family that had lost their father and husband.
“On May 2, there was a big fire in the finishing company in the Netherlands. Three Lithuanians died. Among them was my brother Aurim Klein, who went to the Netherlands to improve his family life. He only stayed in the country for a couple. weeks. There was a wife, a son and two daughters left, and a burden of commitment that weighed on the shoulders of the family. For this reason, I ask you to contribute to the support to facilitate the luck of the family, “he wrote on Facebook.
His message soon got out. Žydrūnas Purauskis, the president of the Alsėdžiai community, also asked the family to contribute to a calmer tomorrow by transferring money to a bank account set up for this purpose.
You can also at least alleviate the financial burden on the surviving family by transferring the money to SWEDBANK’s bank account LT217300010167678631, which has been opened in the name of the deceased brother ERNESTAS KLEINAS. SUPPORT must be specified in the purpose of payment. All funds raised will go to the struggling family.
