“Contemporary art spaces are becoming increasingly popular, bringing together Vilnius residents and city guests. The MO Museum is one of the brightest art spaces in the capital, visited by fans of exhibitions and cinema, and hosts various concerts, educations and meetings. This place is already well known to Vilnius residents as well as visitors who have come from other Lithuanian cities and from abroad. Therefore, from now on, the nearby public transport stop will be named after the MO Museum, “says Loreta Levulytė, director of the Department of Public Transport of the Public Transport Service.

The name of the MO Museum will change the name of the public transport stops on Pylimo – Trakai Street. Incidentally, this name does not disappear from the city’s public transport map: the stop named in this way is at J. Basanavičiaus Street. Previously, the MO Museum stop was named “Lietuvos” due to the nearby cinema of the same name, according to a press release.

“We are very pleased with this decision. The name of the stop on behalf of the MO Museum indicates a symbolic place in the city. It is a place for meetings and quality free time for Vilnius and the guests of the city. Previously, it was the cinema Lietuva, and now it is the MO Museum, adds Milda Ivanauskienė, director of the MO Museum.

At the MO Museum stops, buses on routes 1G, 11, 53, 88 and trolleybuses on routes 1, 2, 7, 20 will stop as usual.

There are a total of approximately 1,260 public transport stops in Vilnius, and 1,380 stops in the entire public transport network, which includes the municipalities of Vilnius and Trakai. Their names help orient themselves in the city, therefore they are generally associated with nearby objects and buildings, with the names of famous figures, residential areas, parts of the city, neighborhoods, streets, squares.
