The idea of compulsory COVID-19 vaccination is being considered in Poland: the problems are similar to those in Lithuania

According to the Notes from Poland portal, infectious disease expert Professor A. Horban unexpectedly responded positively to journalists’ question about whether the country will not need to introduce mandatory vaccination.

“If other measures don’t work, then of course something like this may be needed,” said the researcher.

However, he added that the idea of such a mandatory vaccination has not yet been discussed with members of the COVID-19 Medical Council, which was founded last year by Morawieckis and chaired by A. Horban himself.

The researcher also recalled that so far not enough doses of vaccines have been delivered to Poland, as to other EU countries, so until now it has not made much sense to talk about mandatory vaccination.

It is true that vaccines have been shipped much more in recent weeks than before. Simonas Krėpšta, an advisor to President Gitanas Nausėda in Lithuania, declared Tuesday morning that “the problem of the vaccine shortage has been largely solved at this time.”
