The leaders of eleven A-licensed clubs gathered at the Euroleague headquarters on Monday to express their common wish to the league’s leader, Jordi Bertomeu.

It has been officially announced that the teams that form the basis of the priorities want to have more influence in the overall decisions of the league. Among them are the economic ones, whose freedom until now belonged to Bertomeu.

The model for involving clubs in the governance structure will be decided at the next meeting of the Euroleague Board of Directors.

Following Monday’s meeting in Barcelona, clubs, including Žalgiris, publicly circulated a three-point message.

The members of the Euroleague Board meeting in Barcelona agreed on the following objectives:

– The 11 clubs recognize unity as a core value and ensure that this unity is the foundation of success for the past 20 years;

– The 11 clubs continue to share the vision of taking the joint steps necessary to continue their success and take the competition to new heights;

“At the next board meeting, the Euroleague will propose measures to further involve the 11 clubs in the league’s management structure,” the Kaunas team said in a statement.

The clubs’ desire to be more involved reflects their desire to have more influence over key league decisions.
