According to the new vaccine supply plan, this week, instead of the promised 3,000 372 doses of the Comirnaty vaccine, only 1,000 776 doses of this vaccine will reach Šiauliai.
In total, according to a plan drawn up in advance by SAM, Šiauliai had to receive a record amount of vaccine from various manufacturers this week: 4,772 doses.
600 Šiauliai residents will not receive the expected vaccination
The city authorities were preparing for this: vaccination plans were drawn up and people were invited to vaccination centers.
After almost halving the number of Comirnaty vaccines that had to go to Šiauliai, it was necessary to immediately cancel those registered.
On Tuesday alone, 600 people had to be vaccinated at the Šiauliai Vaccination Center: elderly people, high school graduates, teachers and people with chronic diseases.
As most of the vaccines that will arrive in Šiauliai after the new divisions will be used for the revaccination of people who have already been vaccinated, it means that there will be practically nothing to vaccinate in Šiauliai this week.
For Vilnius residents: an additional 19 thousand. vaccine dose
Portal lrytas.lt When asked what criteria were used to redistribute vaccine shipments received, Julian Gališanski, Chief Specialist of the SAM Press Service, replied that the morbidity situation in various regions had been taken into account.
“Due to the higher incidence of coronavirus morbidity and hospital occupancy in Vilnius, they were administered 19,000 additional doses of vaccine this week, and vaccine volumes were reduced in other regions where the situation is better,” Gališanskis said.
The chief specialist of the SAM Press Service said that smaller shipments of vaccines should arrive in Lithuania this week. Some of them can also go to the regions.
Such actions discredit both the government and the state.
When asked how he evaluates such a step by SAM, Šiauliai Mayor Artūras Vicoskas did not hide his resentment and outrage.
“We compiled the lists of people who were vaccinated based on the SAM information that was provided to us in advance. We invited 600 people from Šiauliai to come to the vaccination center on Tuesday and received a message on Monday afternoon that they would not receive the vaccine.
Now you need to get in touch with these people and let them know. And what can we tell them? We don’t even know when to invite them to get vaccinated again. They will have to call again.
This is not even a double or triple job. This is the simplest discredit of the state and its government. You promise one, you don’t deliver, and you don’t even say what to expect next.
The situation regarding the incidence of the coronavirus is gradually deteriorating in the Šiauliai region, and we will not be able to vaccinate new people this week, the remaining vaccines will be used for the booster vaccination.
It is sad for the graduates and teachers, who are already counting the days so that they can work in contact faster, it is also sad for the other people from Šiauliai who are left overboard after so much SAM confusion.
I do not question the appropriateness of such a SAM solution, but I emphasize that everything could have been done humanely.
After all, before making a decision, the SAM representatives were able to find out what vaccination programs actually exist in the regions and take this into account when redistributing the quantities of vaccines ”. lrytas.lt said the mayor of the city of Šiauliai, A.Visockas.
