Representatives of the Lithuanian Parents’ Forum, who participated in the protest, are preparing to go even further: they are preparing a lawsuit against the state for discriminatory treatment of children, the documents of which they hope to present later this week.

Gathered in protest

In the square in front of the Kaunas city municipality, on Monday morning, more than a hundred parents gathered who were determined to carry out preventive tests on primary school children who want to study by contact. Some of them also brought their own offspring. The protesters called discriminatory the condition that only children who undergo tests return to school live.

Some of the protesters held signs with the inscriptions: “Stop testing children”, “Is education really a priority?”, “Children are not experiments”, “Voluntary tests are signed with a rope around the neck “,” The disease is not dangerous for children “.

Among the protesters huddled in the circle, only a few wore protective masks, and one woman put earplugs over her nose. “My healthy son is being discriminated against. This is an intervention on my son’s body,” said a woman from Kaunas who was determined to test the primers.

Protesters gathered near the Kaunas City Municipality building expressed their discontent with loud whistles and shouts.

The organizers of the campaign collected signatures from the audience asking not to test the primers. Subsequently, the letter with the signatures was delivered to the Kaunas city and district municipalities, as well as the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.

After the government last week adjusted the procedure for testing for coronavirus infection in contact-taught primates, primary education programs in the city function in a mixed fashion.

True, there is no longer an obligation to screen the child’s entire home, and preventive tests are offered only to students and educators. As of this week, more than 73 percent will continue their studies in the classroom. for the small residents of Kaunas, and for those who do not want to study by the method of cumulative methods, education is organized at a distance.

The circumstances will be evaluated by the police.

Police officers also gathered near the municipal building to ensure order. As portal lrytas.lt later, O. Vaitkevičienė, Chief of the Communications Branch of the Kaunas County Police Chief’s Station, confirmed that, according to the police, permission to protest had not been granted.

“As far as we have the data, they did not have a permit and it was not requested,” said a Kaunas police representative.

According to O.Vaitkevičienė, it is still difficult to assess whether the quarantine conditions were violated during the protest, the police officers will investigate it in detail: “Our officers went there to ensure additional public order, because there were a large number of people there. “

Will go to court

Chairman of the Board of the Lithuanian Parents Forum (LTF) Darius Trečiakauskas for the portal lrytas.lt He reported that the organization will soon go to court.

“We are preparing to initiate legal proceedings not only for the evidence, but also for the rights of the violated children, the right to a quality education, the rights of the violated parents. The restrictions were imposed in a totally unreasonable way and we see that the management situation in Lithuania is not based on any medical decision, ”said D. Trečiakauskas.

The president of the Parents’ Forum complained that the authorities did not take into account the opinions of the parents. When asked what the forum was specifically targeting in the lawsuit, he said he wanted the rulers to “respond against the people.” When asked how they should do that, he said he was not a lawyer and could not decide.

A spokesperson for the Parent Forum said the current test was illogical and shouldn’t be applied at all. “When driving from Vilnius to Kaunas, do you stop every 7 kilometers to see if the tires have not been lowered? The same goes for the tests. Who can guarantee that the person who became pregnant did not contract the virus two hours ago?” , Commented D. Trečiakauskas.

“To handle the situation, you need to test everyone every hour. Today, the state does not have the ability to evaluate everyone by the cumulative method, although the funds allocated are enormous. I don’t see the logic of who needs proof if it doesn’t solve the problem, “he added.

According to D. Trečiakauskas, many parents have recently applied for the organization; sometimes the parent forum receives several hundred requests a day.
