Previously, Egle and her family lived in Kaunas, but she says the idea of living in the village has been in her heart since childhood. “The idea of escaping from the city was not spontaneous. Since I was little I had the vision of living in the countryside, not in the concrete jungle, ”says the woman.
The decision, says the interlocutor, was also inspired by the love for horses. “I wouldn’t even consider the option of raising a horse in a stud farm and just coming to enjoy it while you live in the city,” Eglly says openly. Eglė and her husband Julius found a farm that would be suitable not only for family, but also for pet life on Oak Way.
Spruce’s love of animals can also be seen in his career choice: a woman works at the “Fifth Foot” animal shelter. “Little by little, animals began to appear from one place or another. I work at the “Penkta koja” animal shelter, first dogs, cats, goats appeared around the shelter, then sheep, “says Eglė.
However, many more animals can now be found in Oak Villa and in the family home. The house with Egle, her husband and children Ąžuolas and Rūta is home to several dogs, some of which are in foster care and are waiting for a new home, a Tulpė cat and a sheep, and the farm contains goats, sheep, ponies , horses, rabbits, ducks, geese and various chicken breeds.
Roble Roble – “Villa Roble”
In Ąžuolų Būda, you can now also find the “Ąžuolų vilas” supervised by the Egle family. And this name, says Egle, came naturally. “It was winter as soon as we got here and we really wanted to meet our friends. I created a closed group among friends, thinking about how to start this place. Both Ąžuolų Būda and his son Ąžuolas obtained the Ąžuolų vila.
This name held on so much that it stayed that way. A friend suggested creating a page, I didn’t expect anyone to have fun in that rustic life, but now we already have 3000 followers. I didn’t think it would be interesting to anyone, but it turns out that it is, ”says the interlocutor with a smile.
Now in this place you can not only visit the animals and feed them, but also organize photo sessions, celebrate children’s birthdays. “When we moved to the farm, we immediately had the idea that we would not be happy alone, but we would also allow families to get acquainted with animals. I think children today need to get to know live animals, not just through books. or television, ”says Eglė.
In the future, says Egle, there are more plans, but “The man said not to say when the result will be, then he will brag,” the woman jokingly says. According to her, more pets would be wanted in the future, but the farm buildings should be expanded first.
However, Egle says that he does not want to buy exotic animals but traditional ones. “Many people ask if you can grow alpacas, but I would prefer to have traditional animals living in Lithuania. Alpacas and farms already exist, they can be seen from many places and, for example, the same cow is already more difficult to detect unless than through the window of a car grazing in the fields. And we would like piglets, but we will have to wait a long time, due to swine fever, there are great restrictions for their breeding, “says the woman.
The interlocutor said that the animals had to be transported to the Kaunas center for photo shoots, but people often come to “Ąžuolų vilas” to enjoy their pets. However, Eglė does not hide the fact that sometimes the children who come here are more interested in trampolines and swings than in animals.
“Pets attract more attention from parents. If children meet the village, then animals attract attention, but if children are villagers, the trampoline, the swings are more interesting for them. Probably nostalgic. for their parents, if they had a childhood in the village, and it really is more interesting for them than for the children, ”says Eglė.
There were also places in the house for the sheep.
All members of the family contribute to the maintenance of the farm, says Egle. Older Oak, 6, has a day job: he likes to feed the chickens and helps the parents prepare water for the animals. Laughing young Ruth says the woman is still too young for farm work. “She fed the sheep, but she’s still having a hard time, she’d like to taste it from the same bottle,” laughs Eglė.
However, Oak’s friendship with the animals did not begin immediately. While still living in Kaunas, Ąžuolas was very afraid of animals, not only avoiding cats. “We brought the dog from the shelter, so Oak did not get up from the sofa for almost a week, because he was very scared. However, he realized that he would not live on the sofa, he got used to it and now the best friends,” he recalls the interlocutor.
“After we moved here, the children showed up for the first time. It also gave him a little scary, and now that a new animal is coming, just ask if it’s biting. Now his courage is turning into negligence, we monitor it carefully, because the horse also crawls under his feet, ”says Eglė.
And although Egle has two children, he also has to take care of the third baby. When the sheep gave birth to the sheep, the sheep did not want to take care of the child, and the other sheep did not want to receive little Tulip in a friendly way, so Eglė was afraid that the sheep would not be crushed.
“Sheep and it sleeps in our bed, it is bathed, clean, it walks with diapers, it is quite sterile. And she came because her mother rejected her after deciding that she didn’t need her and that she would continue to live a free and relaxed life.
I’m just lazy to run to the barn with a bottle every few hours, she lives with us. Or until the diapers are no longer fitting or until the hay starts to eat normally, the grass is eaten and strengthened, ”says Egle. Reassure the women and those who are concerned that the sheep are at the dinner table, only the males eat.
However, not only cats, dogs and sheep can be found, but also chickens at home. “We hatch chickens ourselves, and now they live in the boiler room, so the children stretch out to make friends. Last year we took the hatchery, and this year we get it ourselves and we are learning the subject.
So far, full experiments. The first double went very well, here as the success of the newcomers, and now they will probably see how lucky they are, and the eggs are more difficult to collect, geese ”, says the woman.
And although there is no shortage of work in the village, and it is difficult to leave for a long time, Eglė would not exchange the village for the city. “No one is afraid, no one complains that we are heating up the grill, there are activities for the children all the time, we don’t really feel quarantined.
If we come up with a cafe or a movie theater, we can drive fast, there is silence and peace here all the time, and the neighbors of the apartment constantly claim that the dog’s claws are clucking, the tail slams on the door, and there is never room for a car ”, Says the interviewee.
