Sakura blossoms are one of the most anticipated spring phenomena, as they gather crowds of inhabitants. Trees adorned with pink flowers invite you to immortalize them in the background. Every year during the sakura bloom, countless photos of them are flooded on social media.

Sakurai Park in central Vilnius, on the banks of the Neris, was established on the occasion of the centenary of Čijunė Sugihara’s birth in 2001 and has fascinated Vilnius residents and guests every spring ever since. It blooms 200 Japanese sakuras, also known as Japanese cherries, each year.

They usually flower in April, but very briefly, only about two weeks. So those who want to admire them should hurry up.

It is true that this year the sakura bloomed later than last year. Last year, the first rings were deployed on April 8.

In 2019, sakura blooms in Vilnius on April 18. At the same time, the sakura bloomed in 2018.
