Before the battle with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Memphis Grizzlies announced that Valanciunas could no longer play due to a concussion he suffered in a game with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The injured center of the Lithuanian national team was forced to miss the second game in a row from Saturday to Sunday. The match between Dillon Brooks (thigh) and Jaren Jackson (meniscus) will be decided a few hours before the start of the duel.
When Jackson enters the field, Grizzlies-sponsored talent would play for the first time this season.
At that point, Sabonis will not be able to help the Indiana Pacers for the second game in a row due to back pain.
The Indianapolis club will host the Oklahoma Thunder at their home field next night.
The Pacers will also perform without Myles Turner (foot injury), at which point Goga Bitadze (ankle), Jeremy Lambo (miscellaneous) and Doug McDermott (ankle) will be decided just before the game.
Both Valančiūnas and Sabonis play professional seasons.
JV captures 17 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 28 minutes of play.
Sabonis has 19.9 points, 11.6 rebounds, 6 assists and 1.1 interceptions in 35 minutes of play.
