The grandmother she described last week assured her grandchildren that she didn’t need pots or cutlery, she just wanted good things for her loved ones.

After returning home, Jurga’s husband invited his wife to the countryside, where he was waiting for “gifts” and scammers. “So my husband went to the store and came back to that man and said, ‘I brought you gifts.’ They both spoke there, a text very similar to the one described in Kauno Diena. I went to see those gifts, there were pots and knives. We had a very long discussion. In the photo, I am with my husband, and that darker man had pots, all kinds of forks. He began to tell us that he was leaving the conference, that he did not have money for a ticket and that we would buy. My husband already wanted to buy because here it is also cheap. Monetary maneuvers
The scammer was busy: initially offering gifts and then deciding to ask 600 euros for them. “It initially offered for 600 euros, then it landed up to 300 euros, later, up to 100 euros.” However, we still haven’t bought, “said the Kaunas resident.

According to Jurga, he did not contact the police about the incident. “I just … laughed and explained that a man wouldn’t start with those anymore,” the Kaunas resident said.
The police were interested
Odeta Vaitkevičienė, Chief of the Communication Branch of the Kaunas County Police Chief’s Police Station, stated that the police had not received a report about the grandmother being misled by a scam. As the officials were not contacted about the case, after the information in the public space, the officials began to clarify the circumstances. The old woman and her relatives were found and contacted. They did not write a statement, they had no complaints, so the pre-trial investigation has not been started, “the police representative commented on the situation.
