The most important victory of the season in the semi-final of the European Cup was won by Kazan “Unics”, who eliminated Bologna “Virtus” – 107: 100 (21:21, 25:27, 27:19, 34:33).

In the first part of the match, the teams exchanged precise throws and short spurs, leaving Virtus with only a small advantage: 48:46.

After a long break, the view on the field was more contrasting: the Unics players who scored with great precision gained a double-digit lead (66:56), and Stefan Markovic got the fourth foul and was forced to sit in the bank. The Russian club finished the third quarter, keeping only part of that lead (73:67).

Later, Virtus constantly attacked opponents from behind, but Jamar Smith’s fourth three-point game five minutes before the game strengthened the guest positions: 85:78. Marco Belinelli dropped five free throws to close the gap, leaving just over a minute in 92:96. Unics then stretched a 24-second attack, which Isaiah Canaan finished with a stab to the hearts almost from midfield.

John Brown was the MVP of the match, scoring 20 points (7/10 colonies, 6/7 free throws) in 34 minutes, bouncing 8 and taking 2 balls, making a pass, scoring once, causing 8 fouls, breaking the rules 3 times and getting 31 utility points.

Throughout the game, Unics maintained a powerful shot from all distances: 57 percent from two-point shots (21/37), 48 percent from three-point shots (14/29) and 92 percent from free throws ( 23/25). Furthermore, Italians who attacked solidly with their opponents failed to even land significantly more penalty shots (32/41, 78 percent).

Unics won the series with two 2: 1 victories and advanced to the final, where they will meet the AS Monaco team of Monaco.

Entering the final of the European Cup at the same time guaranteed the Russian club and a place in the Euroleague next season.

Two Lithuanians, Gytis Vilius and Saulius Račys, also judged the match together with Sretenas Radovičius.

“Virtue”; Milos Teodosičius 25 (9 res, 4/10 triples), Marco Belinelli 24 (3/7 triples), Vince Hunter 13 (8/10 free throws), Josh Adams 10 (2/4 triples), Kyle Weems and Giampaolo Ricci after 8.
