During the remote conversation-discussion that took place this week, an agreement was reached with the Vilnius Municipal Commission on transport, parking and security of the event, in order to avoid possible provocations, other topics were discussed.
On May 15, 20 retro cars will be allowed to park in Vingis Park, which will participate in the Great Family Defense of March 2021 and 40 motorcycles, as well as cars from organizers, security personnel, doctor, firefighters and service with permits.
For all other drivers, Vingis Park will be closed that day, so the organizers recommend reserving a place in advance where it will be possible to leave the car for a longer period of time.
As the initiator of the event and one of the organizers told Vakaro žinios Raimondas Grinevičius, it is still difficult to predict how many participants will receive the march. However, it is expected to be an impressive protest, during which, according to various estimates, queues can cover up to 92 km.
He admits that when the idea of the march spread widely, various provocations were also received. For example, there was a debate in the public sphere about the event logo in an attempt to accuse the organizers of defending LGBT people. “The discussion led to the creation of another logo that represents an oak tree that symbolizes the family. Now all parties are satisfied. Participants can choose which logo they find the most beautiful and will be able to use it during the event. That is not the most important. What matters is the number of protesters and our position and the resolutions that we will adopt at the rally.
However, we also see negative statements from like-minded people. The small national political parties are beginning to speak as if we are following a Vatican policy and it is not clear what is behind our movement. I think this is because active people come together like they have raised a sign for small parties. The outrage amazes me because the march would be a great opportunity to unite. I have told many representatives of small parties: to unite national and patriotic forces, it is necessary to distance oneself from the leaders of those small parties, “said R. Grinevičius.
Organizers recall that the “Great Family Defense March of 2021” will begin simultaneously throughout Lithuania. The protest march will move from Klaipeda to Vilnius with a heavy flow of traffic, which will be joined by participants from all regions of the country, Lithuanian retro car clubs and motorcyclists, aviators from sports aircraft clubs, demonstrating that on that day Lithuania will be united both in heaven and on earth.
After arriving in Vilnius, the column will be distributed through parking lots and people will be transported by buses to Vingis Park, where the culmination of the campaign will take place, a demonstration that will demand the suspension of anti-democratic and anti-state policies.
It is also announced that the “Great Defense of the Family March 2021” will officially start the registration of participants. It is necessary that the mass protest of the citizens develops in an organized, fluid manner and does not cause difficulties for its participants and the public. Of the multiple participants traveling in a single car, only drivers need to register.
