“After all, the point is not how many people will come to the resort, but how they will behave. The coast of Palanga is great, there are quite a few places in the local parks or on the hiking and biking trails of the predunas, ”said the mayor.
The large number of police forces will also monitor how tourists comply with the quarantine requirements in Palanga over the weekend. Particular attention will be paid to public places, shops.
And Palanga itself was bracing for the influx of tourists over the weekend: almost all the rooms in the resort hotels were sold out on Friday.
Police General Commissioner Renatas Požėla announced on Friday that not only police officers from the city of Palanga will work, but also police officers from the surrounding districts, and officers from the Central Highway Police Service will also work.
On average, there are 2 to 4 police teams working in Palanga; up to 12 police teams are scheduled to work each weekend this weekend.
The mayor of Palanga advised residents to take care of food in advance so that they would not have to travel to crowded supermarkets on the weekend.
Up to four police teams usually work in Palanga every day, there should be twelve of them on the weekend. The complex will be staffed by police officers from the surrounding villages, two highway police teams from the capital.
Officers will patrol on foot, motorcycles, observe supermarkets, private parties.
