K. Valionis made such a decision after the Kaunas Regional Court failed to commute his sentence on Wednesday for damaging the Audi A8 car parked next to the apartment building while driving while intoxicated. The politician was found to have an intense drunkenness of 2.55 per thousand.

He was fined 2,550 euros, which was reduced by a third to 1,700 euros.

The period of temporary detention of a politician was also included in the punishment period, one day, considering that K. Valionis had paid one hundred euros of the fine imposed on him.

The politician was also deprived of the right to drive for one year and three months and his car was impounded.

K. Valionis had appealed against this decision of the court of first instance to the court of higher instance, however, as already mentioned, the latter, after examining the appeal, confirmed the judicial decision already taken.

“I did not go to the Court of Appeals because I wanted to defend myself. It was then that my family circumstances were such and there was nothing else I could do: I had a severely disabled mother who I had to take to the doctor almost every day, so a car and a driver’s license were vital to me. That is why I appealed to a higher court, and only because I expected the sentence to be reduced.

Today, this situation is even more painful. While waiting for the final decision of the court, I lost my mother. When he went to Anapilin, my appeal just lost its meaning.

I respect the court’s decision, so today I surrendered my resignation on behalf of the district council members.

I am very sorry for my irresponsible actions. I personally evaluate it very negatively, I experience it a lot and I can’t even say how sorry I am, so I already apologized both to my fellow district council and to all the people of the country during the public broadcast of the district. Council meeting.

I realize all my guilt and thank God for protecting me from a greater calamity.

No court decision will condemn me more than my own conscience judges me, so once again I sincerely apologize to all the residents of the Kėdainiai district and my colleagues, K. Valionis told Rinkos Square. – However, in this whole situation, I also see something positive that really surprised me.

Even after committing the crime, my friends, colleagues and comrades did not leave me.

I have special respect and gratitude for Deputy Mayor Paul Aukštikalnis, who did not hesitate to risk his reputation, did not fear any public gossip and criticism, and elevated humanity above all politics by reaching out to me when I no longer expected help. from wherever.

Not for nothing is it said that you will meet your friends in adversity, and the humanity of others is revealed when you stumble and make the kind of mistake that causes most people to turn away.

I am happy that it is different in my case, neither my friends nor my colleagues left me. I will do my best not to slip anymore and not to disappoint you.

Once again, I apologize to all the people and I do not want anyone to fall into situations where they find themselves at the border.

I have already received the maximum punishment. And not for the court.

I was left alone and alone. With your conscience. So both the court decision and the departure of the district council no longer make sense to me.

But at the same time, I thank you for the greatest gift of my life: that there are people in my life, I did not turn away from myself even if I made a very painful and embarrassing mistake.

Once again, I sincerely apologize to all the people in the area. “
