10 euros a month for a computer, 3 euros for a desk: what compensation can be claimed from the employer for work at home?

Do you want to be compensated by your employer for additional costs or equipment wear and tear while working from home? This will require the accumulation of accounts to prove the costs incurred.

The Labor Code (DK) stipulates that if employees incur additional costs related to work, the acquisition, installation and use of work equipment while working remotely, they must be reimbursed.

Inga Ruginienė, president of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation, says that not all employers do this; often allows you to take your laptop home and that’s when the compensation ends. According to her, the employer should be consulted not only about the installation of an ergonomic workplace at home, work equipment, but also about other costs incurred, such as additional utilities. And if the employer disagrees, there may be disputes.

The State Tax Inspection (STI) explains that there are several ways that employers can enforce the DK requirement and provide employees with the necessary tools or compensation without taxes, either temporary or compensation for the use of personal belongings and other expenses.
