According to the ministry, S. Gentvilas signed the order “when it became clear that the work experience led by the director did not meet the requirements of the position for which he was hired.”

“By becoming head of the department, Olga Vėbrienė had less than 2 years of managerial experience and provided the Civil Service Department with false data, according to which she could not be accepted for this position at all,” says the ministry.

According to her, the analysis of the circumstances of O. Vėbrienė’s professional career revealed that the duration of her managerial experience was shorter not only during the competition, but also during the actual admission to the position of Director of the Department of Environmental Protection.

“After assessing the circumstances and in accordance with the general principle of law that the law does not arise from illegality, the Minister of the Environment decided to dismiss the director of the department, as provided in the Civil Service Law, that” a server he is fired or covered up or he was given false information that prevented him from being recruited as an official, ”the report reads.

When S. Gentvilas became Minister of the Environment at the end of last year, disagreements soon arose between him and O. Vėbrienė: friction arose when she removed an environmentalist who informed the Minister about the oil spill at the Būtingė terminal at end of last year.

The Minister, for his part, claimed to have received a disproportionate number of complaints from employees of the Department of Environmental Protection and that he himself had initiated an official inspection to see if said environmentalist had been legally removed from his post. S. Gentvilas also raised the issue of establishing leadership positions in the personnel policy department.

O. Vėbrienė became the permanent head of the Department of Environmental Protection in August last year. He replaced Valdas Laukis, whose department head was criticized after the tire recycling company fires Ekologistika in Alytus and Grigeo Klaipėda in the Curonian lagoon.

The Ministry highlights that before becoming Head of the Department of Environmental Protection, O. Vėbrienė held a leadership position in the Ministry of Economy and Innovation: in February-December 2019 she served as Chancellor of the Ministry, since the end of December 2019 For less than two weeks, he headed the Strategic Change Group of the Ministry of the Environment.

He began to temporarily hold the position of the Department of Environmental Protection almost a year ago; On April 27, 2020, effective August 12, she was appointed to the permanent position of chief.

Will go to court

On Friday, O.Vėbrienė issued a press release announcing that he intended to go to court over the situation.

“Yes, I confirm that I will go to the police and the court about the illegality of this order. I believe in justice and I believe that I will win – wrote O.Vėbrienė. – It is a bit regrettable that I was not able to implement all the changes that would have strengthened the environment and allowed the same environmentalists to work in the conditions that the 21st century offers us, however, I am sure that I will return and be able to continue the work that I started.

And I will never stop saving. Save money. Love the environment, the sea, rivers, trees, animals, plants and birds ”.

O. Vėbrienė also accused E. Gentvilas of behaving in a disrespectful manner.

“The politician has shown that it is not for nothing that he belongs to his father’s party and is guided by the ideology of the policy of deduction, which is not alien to this party,” wrote O. Vėbrienė. – To this “honorable policy” can be added all the oaths of “I see opportunities to work together.” Maybe now society and you, sir. Journalists, you will also be more certain from my earlier comments that in the meetings the Minister swore face to face that he had no objection to the work, but that he “counted my seniority” behind his eyes.

The former head of the Department of Environmental Protection claims the minister’s order has been introduced, but cannot comment further on the reasons.

“Only a concise article of article 51 of the Civil Service Law was presented. Point 1 of paragraph 1 (“it turns out that when entering the public service, he presented falsified documents or concealed or provided inaccurate information, so he could not be accepted in the post of public official”), writes O. Vėbrienė.

“I cannot answer what I have falsified, more precisely, what I am accused of falsifying because I have not received any additional information. I will only emphasize that the documents were inspected both by the Department of Civil Service of the Ministry of the Interior and by specialists from the Ministry of the Environment. Apparently during those 8 months. the arithmetic has changed, ”he said.
