ESPN has compiled an annual ranking of NBA young players (under 25) based on the potential of basketball players in the future.
LaMelo Ball
MIN: | 28.63 |
PTS: | 15.98 (51.54%) |
REB: | 5.88 |
WHAT: | 6.12 |
ST: | 1.61 |
BS: | 0.34 |
FOR: | 2.78 |
GM: | 41 |
Indantas Sabonis, an Indiana Pacers star, was ranked 18th by ESPN analysts Bobby Marks, Kevin Pelton and Mike Schmitz.
“Sabonis is just one of six basketball players on this list who have played more than once in the NBA All-Star game. This season, the tall man is treading on double mud, he has already collected 34 and is the third in the league by this indicator, writes Peltonas – He also makes 6 effective passes, which is a very good result for tall people.
The problem as to why Sabonis found himself behind the backs of other All Star participants is the question of whether a Lithuanian can successfully defend the basket when there are no league blocks from King Myles Turner at his side.
Pelton awarded the Lithuanian 16th place, Marx 17th and Schmitz 19th. Last year, Sabonis was ranked 22nd on this list.
For the second year in a row, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončičius was at the top of the rankings, receiving first-place votes from all three experts.
Second place compared to last year was held by New Orleans Pelicans sophomore Zion Williamson, third – LaMelo Ball.
LaMelo Schmitz, who has played for Prien in the past, dropped third, Pelton fourth and Marx eighth, enough to leave Charlotte Hornets defender Donovan Mitchell in fourth and Jayson Tatum in fifth.
“Before injuring his wrist, Ballas set record highs for the 19th anniversary and easily broke the defense systems of his opponents. Given LaMelo’s height, square vision, elite instincts and self-confidence, he has the brightest future in the league, aside from Dončičius and Zion, ”Schmitz praised LaMelo. “What makes it special is not learned, and it will become an even bigger problem for opponents when they mature physically.”
Dončičius and Sabonis are the only Europeans on the 25-player roster.
