Janis Timma, who has been part of the Chimki team in the Moscow region since 2019, will no longer play for the club this season, Sport-Express reported.
The conflict between the 28-year-old 201 cm basketball player and Chimki took place on February 28. That day he had to play with Zeliona Gura’s Stelmet and warm up before the game, but when he found out that he did not reach the starting five, the Latvian decided to go home.
The sniper has not trained with the team since.
“It just came to our notice then. It came out of the clubhouse. We are moving forward, we have players who are ready to play, enjoy the process and show the results,” said Pavel Astachov, CEO of Chimki.
Although the contract between Timma and Chimki is still valid, according to Sport-Express, Timma would like to move to another team this season.
Latvis played 16 games in the Euroleague this season and averaged 7.1 points in 24 minutes and bounced 2.8 balls.
In 2019, Timma signed a two-year contract with Chimki.
