“I became a target because I refused to succumb to political pressure without scientific evidence, to condemn in advance the participants of the June uprising,” said Jakubauskas, adding that expectations to condemn part of the resistance have already been expressed by the ruling politicians.
“Recently, both commentators and ruling politicians in the media have unequivocally expressed the expectation that my removal and further changes at the Center will lead to the abolition of partial resistance status, titles and perpetuations,” he said.

Employees also expressed concern that the center has a tense emotional climate and that pressure from management is forcing experienced historians to leave their jobs. Indignation was also expressed by the director of LGGRTC A. Jakubauskas, and Vidmantas Valiušaitis, senior adviser, journalist, publicist and book author who has already resigned. Recently, tensions have been fueled by the fact that A. Jakubauskas fired historian dr. Mingailė Jurkutė, which spared no harsh criticism from the LGGRTC management. According to A. Jakubauskas, M. Jurkutė was fired not for criticism of the center, but for spreading incorrect information.
