“Our vaccination process is fast enough, but not entirely accurate. We need to change the strategy, find ways to reach those older people. Maybe not everyone answers the call, the message, they need to be contacted in other ways. “This indicator must be improved and it must be drastically improved,” an adviser to the head of state told reporters on Thursday.

“There is a problem here, the president discussed it with the mayors of the big cities. The situation in Kaunas and Vilnius is slightly better than the Lithuanian average, ”he added.

According to data from the Department of Statistics, almost 47% were vaccinated in Vilnius. people over 80 years old, in Kaunas, about 46 percent, while the proportion of vaccinated elderly in Lithuania is about 40 percent.

According to S. Krėpšta, according to this indicator, Lithuania lags behind other countries of the European Union.

“In Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, countries that have received exactly the same number of vaccines as we have in terms of population, those numbers are much better,” he said.

According to the head of state, communication with the elderly should be improved and an information campaign should be activated.

“The question of whether older people are getting a clear message when they need to get vaccinated is how they can register. Also, new registration systems, where a person or their loved one can register an older adult, would also be a relief. Kaunas, Vilnius is beginning to use it very actively. Hopefully other cities will follow suit, “said S. Krėpšta.

He also stated that President Gitanas Nausėda had discussed vaccination with the mayors of Vilnius, Kaunas Remigijus Šimašas and Visvaldas Matijošaitis, as well as with the head of the Association of Municipalities and the mayor of the Jonava district, Mindaugas Sinkevičius.

“I am glad that the big cities are determined to get vaccinated very actively in the coming days. “… We also listen to the little ones who plan to work on vacation and use those vaccines,” said the advisor.

S. Krėpšta could not name how many municipalities plan to vaccinate on the holiday weekend, but urged them to do so, because vaccination “brings us closer to a freer social and economic life.”

Asked about vaccination in live tails, he said that the country’s president is in favor of a rapid, objective and fair vaccination process.

“It is really possible to control that process and organize it that way, if we are well prepared, we have good examples (…). Tomorrow,” said the advisor.

S. Krėpšta named the vaccine registration system developed by Kaunas as a suitable example of process management, which was taken over by Vilnius.
