“The very idea of the construction project was inspired by the Japanese origami art form. The station will be an integral structure, under which the platform will be located, and part of it will be planted. So nature and architecture seem merge into a whole, creating a specific oasis ”, says S. Glinskis.
Arriving passengers will be greeted by the bus station not only in a modern building, a spacious waiting room adapted for the disabled, but also in a modern passenger information system. Here, information screens will be installed that will allow to know relevant and real-time information about the route. In addition to the usual ticket sales, the box will also have a self-service terminal.
With it, it will be possible to pay with a bank card and buy travel tickets easily and quickly. Under the bus station, an underground car park with 87 spaces has been designed, with spaces for the disabled.
When designing the bus station, a lot of attention was paid to the safety and maintenance of this part of the city. It is planned that the buses enter the station from the side of the Volunteer Square, thus the safest movement of pedestrians, disabled people, bicycles, vehicles will be decided, avoiding the intersection of traffic.
The technical project includes road safety measures, road signs, illuminated passages, new LED luminaires for lighting stations and pedestrians, luminaires with dimming function, video surveillance cameras, etc., small architectural objects will be installed.
The bus station building is designed in an irregular trapezoidal shape. The facades are provided with transparent glass, which ensures visual connections between the interior spaces and the exterior platform, this place is the most friendly for pedestrians.
The bus station is expected to be equipped with a passenger waiting room, lockers, driving room, baggage and parcel department, dispatch center, information service, sanitary and administrative facilities, etc.
