President of the CSKA Club of Moscow Andrejus Wattines commented on the conflict between head coach Dimitri Itoudis and Mike James.
“Unfortunately, Itoudis’s work with James is not currently being considered. In the first season, James did not cause us any problems, so a three-year contract was signed.
This season, we did everything we could to get the most out of James’ team. The problems encountered could not be solved with a single wave of the hand, so we tried to do it gradually. However, stability on the computer is more important than anything else. The coaching staff decided that the removal of James was in the best interest of the team and we fully support this move.
Needless to say, James is a great basketball player who has repeatedly pulled us out of tough situations on his own, but the whole situation has turned into a major conflict. Unfortunately, this conflict cannot be quelled. It is better to admit it now than to live with the hope of a miracle, ”said the club’s head.
Without James, the rest of CSKA will no longer be able to register new players for the Euroleague and will have to fight against existing forces.
