“Assuming that, as on Earth, it takes 5 billion to form an intellectual being on other planets. Years, there should be at least a few dozen active civilizations in our galaxy. The researchers claim that, based on their assumptions, we would find a number of technologically advanced civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy.
“Based on strict criteria, we have determined that there should be approximately 36 active civilizations in our galaxy,” said Tom Wesbis, co-author of the study and associate professor at the University of Nottingham.
“Based on the latest available data, we can better define existing assumptions, and our study has allowed us to make an accurate assessment of civilizations in our galaxy,” says Westbis.
The study’s findings seem very interesting, but there is an obstacle: It would take around 17,000 light years to travel to another civilization to see if that’s the case. Furthermore, those extraterrestrial civilizations, for whatever reason, may already be dead.
In any case, discovering them would provide us with a wealth of useful information.
“If we could establish that the existence of intelligent civilizations is normal, it would mean that our civilization will also live much longer than the next centuries.
