“1,383 vehicles were delivered in two days and 102 protocols were issued for violations of traffic restrictions,” informed Elta Ramūnas Matonis, representative of the Police Department.

A spokesman for the police department said the scale of the intermunicipal movement on Saturday was large enough.

“There were enough vehicles on Saturday, especially when leaving Vilnius, it was really a great move,” he said.

R. Matonis says that among the quarantine requirements violations recorded over the weekend, contacts from more than one household predominated.

“There are a total of 274 violations recorded in two days, most of the time contacts from more than one farm and movement control violations are predominant,” said a representative from the Police Department.

The MAMA music awards, which received great outrage in the public space, were also held in Kaunas on Saturday night. The event was criticized for its “party during the plague” held under strict quarantine. Event organizers announced that all participants had been screened for COVID-19 prior to the event.

According to R. Matonis, almost 30 reports were received about possible violations of quarantine requirements. Therefore, due to the MAMA awards event held on Saturday, the Lithuanian police began to clarify the circumstances.

ELTA recalls that the government decided on Friday to extend the quarantine until April 30, as well as to renew restrictions on movement between municipalities as of March 27. Until April 5th. It was decided to allow movement only between “circular” municipalities and for other important reasons.
