Erika Daugėlaitė, founder and scent expert from Provence, tells the story of verbs and why juniper branches are used in verbs.
Verb symbolism
According to the aroma expert, the palm branch in the Middle East symbolizes victory, triumph, peace and eternal life. “Palm trees grow in areas with a hot and humid climate. Lithuanians are especially distinguished by their ancient and deep traditions in making verbs from juniper, willow, birch, and willow. The lifespan of juniper trees is usually 350 to 700 years, but in some areas junipers are overgrown and 1,000 years old, ”says the woman.

Juniper also symbolizes fertility, abundance and well-being. It is a medicinal, magical and mythological plant that gives light and hope. “It is one of the main biblical plants that has often been used to protect against evil. In the Middle Ages, bunches of juniper berries were hung over the door to ward off the evil eye and various spells, and the burning juniper cleansed and destroyed all demonic forces. Junipers also cleanse emotional waste and negative energy. If a barn was erected in the house or an angry guest arrived, the negative energy in the house was cleansed by burning juniper branches, ”says Erika Daugėlaitė.

Juniper oil use and aromatherapy
Juniper oil is extracted from juniper berries or twigs by distillation. It has a strong, deep woody smell and is rich in chemical pinenes and sesquiterpenes. Due to this composition, junipers have air purifying and cleaning properties.
The aroma expert points out that juniper oil was used in the embalming process, as well as in rituals for physical and spiritual cleansing.
“Historically, juniper oil has been used to treat wounds, protect against infectious diseases, various epidemics, protect against fever and respiratory infections. This oil is capable of creating an emotional balance, awakens feelings of peace, love and peace, increases spiritual awareness, gives optimism and self-confidence.
