According to the Vilnius City Municipality, such a decision was made due to the influx of questions from drivers about the new devices on the streets.
“During calibration tests, the speedometers periodically capture and photograph all the vehicles using the flash. As the flash can be more intense than usual during the tests, we are installing information tables ”, the announcement of the municipal company“ Piekimo paslaugos ”is made on the social network Facebook.
Such tables, according to the report, will inform drivers that the device is being tested. So far, four information panels are promised.
Signs will be installed on Pilaitės Ave. and Tuskulėnų St., and in the near future – Žirmūnų St., alongside the “Žirmūnų Triangle” project.

According to Communication Services, it is desired to complete all test work by mid-April, after which the speedometers will operate and detect violations.
As Delfi has already written, the violation detection devices will detect not only speeding, but also violators who enter the intersection when a prohibited traffic light is on or use a public transportation lane when it is not allowed to do so.
The new speedometers, depending on the installation location, will be able to detect faults in both directions and cover up to 6 lanes at a time. All devices will be equipped with an automatic vehicle registration number recognition system, which can automatically identify the offending vehicle numbers and determine which country state registration numbers are on the recorded photo of the violation.
