In 2008, Simona opened a martial arts club with her ex-husband in Lithuania, and then two more. As a result, she was soon noticed by the people of the Department of Administrative Security, who was protecting the first Lithuanian people, and invited S. Broks to participate in the competition for the position of bodyguard.
“The hardest resistance is there, not all men have passed the preparations. There were long runs, physical exercises. I need to accumulate a certain amount of points and I did it for the first time,” says Simona.
The former bodyguard recalls that most of the work time was spent on shooting and physical exercises, various trainings. Broks does not hide the fact that he had to do everything possible to protect the protected person from danger, and the actions sometimes resembled images from movies.
“It could have been a chest block, running, shooting. You know very well from the movies what bodyguards do. However, the reality is not always the same: there is a lot of time of waiting, observing, analyzing, waiting and boring preparation at the same time. It took us longer to prepare for an event that may never happen, but we always had to be prepared, ”said Edvardas Žičkus. Without borders ”explains Simona.
According to S. Broks, it is teamwork that has given him great pleasure for a long time. One day, however, he decided to leave.
“I believed for a long time that this was my dream job. But the day has come when I realized that if I worked as a bodyguard all my life, what other skills would I develop? Simona asks.
Broks even says that, as a woman, she likely never would have become a top executive. According to her, in this work, women have a certain level to which they can move up the career ladder and then the door is closed.
As a bodyguard, Simona married and divorced a second time; her then husband also worked in the secret services.
“We met during one of the training sessions and we had a nice, romantic time, a kind of James Bond time,” smiles Smro Broks. “Romance, however, is a little different from real life, because it is so much more than just a romantic date.”
Today, Simona nurtures warm feelings for a new friend of the heart and is engaged in completely different arts: she is a master of makeup and body painting. Broks says she couldn’t even call her current activities work, because it’s a pleasure for her.
