In the first half, the Lithuanians managed to maintain their fighting distance and, after 15 minutes, the hosts had a 2-goal advantage: 8: 6. The Lithuanian team, which had more problems in defense, allowed the rivals to increase their advantage in another goal for the rest of the half – 15:12.
In the first minutes of the second half, the Macedonian rivals rushed (19:13), but the Lithuanians managed to get closer again – 16:19. Still, at the end of the match, the strong North Macedonia team broke up and celebrated a guaranteed victory: 31:21.
In the next match in our group, the Icelandic handball players finally defeated the Greek team by 31:19. It is with the representatives of Iceland that the Lithuanians will play on Sunday.
North Macedonia has already secured not only entry to the next round of selection, but also first place in the group.
The second ticket will go to the winners of the Iceland and Lithuania matches, and in the event of a tie, the Icelanders would occupy the highest place. Lithuania and Iceland will play a decisive battle on Sunday at 8pm
Karolina Sparnauskaitė scored 5 goals for the Lithuanian team in the match with Š.Mededonija, Emilė Aglinskaitė added 3, Dovilė Ilčiukaitė and Greta Sadauskaitė added 2, Jūratė Žilinskaitė, Grėta Burkaitė, Greta Rinkevičiūtė each. The latter made his debut with the Lithuanian team only in this selection cycle and it was his first goal on behalf of Lithuania.
Sara Ristovska scored 8 goals, Simona Stojkovska added 5, Elena Gjorgijevska and Aleksandra Borižovska added 4.
