Several hundred people gathered in the cathedral square for a demonstration against the quarantine restrictions.

According to him, the participants of the rally wore flags and various posters, demanded the lifting of the quarantine, the mandatory use of masks, the cessation of vaccination and the opening of borders.

“The request for the meeting was submitted by a natural person, so we cannot disclose personal data of who sent the request. The meeting is organized by participating in international meetings on natural human rights and it has been agreed that up to 200 people can participate in the meeting, ”commented Gintarė Makarevičienė, representative of the Vilnius municipality, on lrt.lt.

According to the municipal representative, the information about the event was transmitted to the police, so the officials monitored whether their participants met the requirements.

Ramūnas Matonis, a representative from the Police Department, told BNS that he had no information yet on whether violations were detected during the event.

The invitation to the demonstration says that it is organized by individuals.

As the representative of the mayor of Vilnius, Karolis Vaitkevičius, later informed BNS, permission to organize the demonstration was granted to one of the organizers, Sandra Jukne.

The second quarantine in Lithuania is valid from the beginning of November, currently it runs until the end of March. Events are not prohibited during quarantine, no more than two households or groups of no more than five people can communicate in open spaces.

According to K. Vaitkevičius, although events related to quarantine are prohibited by the Government’s resolution, the right to organize a demonstration is provided for in the Assemblies Act.
