The campaign, in which young people replaced the flag of support for the LGBT community with a tricolor, sparked a stormy debate on social media.
The rainbow-colored flag in the underground passage was created by art critic Karolina Rimkutė and graphic designer Linas Salačka. Vilnius residents used 12 liters of paint for her. They drew the rainbow flag in 8 hours on the day of Lithuania’s restoration of independence, March 11.
The flag’s creators explained their desire for dialogue between the LGBT community and antisocial commentators, as well as some politicians.
