The pre-trial investigation carried out by Klaipėda police officers began in May 2018. According to the investigation, the accused was part of an organized group that smuggled a large quantity of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Lithuania.
According to the case data, a Mercedes Benz minibus, specially adapted for the transport of drugs, imported a total of more than 62 kilograms of various types of narcotic and psychotropic substances to Lithuania. During the police operation, two smugglers and another member of the group who trusted them were arrested in Kaunas.
Continuing with the pre-trial investigation, a search was carried out at the garage belonging to Telšiškis in Klaipėda. More than 100 grams of the psychotropic substance MDMA (Extazy) and an illegal firearm were found there.
The totality of the data collected revealed that before the drug smuggling from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Lithuania, the defendant drove to Finland in another car, where he was arrested with a large number of psychotropic tablets. There he was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison.
In February this year, the man was transferred from Finland to Lithuania and will be tried for possible crimes committed in 2018. He is currently in pre-trial detention. A man faces up to 15 years in prison for committing very serious crimes.
Three people who worked with the accused in an organized group have been convicted in the past and are currently serving prison terms.
The criminal case was transferred to the Klaipėda Regional Court.
