Yesterday morning, police officers were informed of the murder in the village of Gerviškė, Šilalė district. Today, the arrested suspect is reported to plead guilty.

The murder was committed under horrible circumstances. As the Tauragė County Chief Police Commissioner (AVPK) reported yesterday, the body of a 68-year-old man was found in a meadow in the village of Gerviškė. Skaudviliškis allegedly came to the village in the Šilalė district to buy a bull, but was killed. Soon, the suspect (born 1966) was also detained by officers and detained.

The information was later clarified: the incident was reported by the relatives of the tragically deceased man.

Today, the Tauragė AVPK representative reported that officials had taken all necessary actions from the pre-trial investigation. Witnesses and the suspect were interviewed and an inspection of the scene was carried out.

“A person has been convicted in the past. He will be detained and a preventive detention order will be applied to the court. Admit guilt, ”said Greta Kęsminaitė, representative of Tauragė AVPK, briefly about the suspect.

When asked if the suspect has a mental disability, the commissioner’s representative said that such data was not available.

Expert conclusions are still awaited, but according to preliminary data, the brutally murdered man was seriously injured in the head and other parts of the body.

A pre-trial investigation into the murder was launched. The investigation is led by Jurij Petuchov, Prosecutor of the First Prosecution Division of the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The suspect faces up to seven to fifteen years in prison.
