A video posted on the Internet in January showing police patrols attacking a drunken company in an apartment on Architektų Street in Vilnius had caused a lot of noise.
Officials arrived at the apartment after receiving a call from neighbors about noise and fighting. It turned out, among other things, that quarantine rules were being violated. A company of six aggressive intoxicants in the apartment said it was celebrating the return of a friend from the “zone” (prison).
The patrols had to use force: a telescopic baton and gas.
The company contacted the prosecution for this incident. However, prosecutors concluded that the police had acted legally: after the investigation, a decision was made to refuse to open a pre-trial investigation.
Investigators from the Police Immunity Service, who conducted an official inspection, found that certain tactical errors had been made in arresting people, so one of the responding officers – Vitalijus Vaitkevičius (one of the most popular police officers of the country) – a comment was made.
