Last season, the capital Aukštaitija team played in the FIBA Champions League.

Last month, Lietkabelis took the opportunity and submitted a request to the Euroleague, which organizes the European Cup, when a lump sum was offered to the seductive Rytas, who decided to move to the latter last month.

Lietkabelis has competed in this tournament in 2016–2017 and 2017–2018.

“We are happy, but we accept it as a great challenge. We believe that this will help attract additional sponsors and will be a great challenge for the players and the club in general that we will have to deal with.

Assembly work is now waiting. Although it is mid-June, the market is quite active. We follow the players, negotiate with them and announce newcomers in the near future. I hope we can keep basketball players who have already played on the team, “said Martynas Purlys, director of Lietkabelis.

Among the 24 participants in next season’s European Cup competitions are four clubs from France and Spain, three from Italy, two from Germany, Turkey and Russia, and one from Serbia, Greece, Israel, Belgium, Montenegro, Slovenia and Lithuania.

Spells for the first stage will be drawn on July 10.

The regular season will run from September 30. until December 16. The second stage will begin on December 30 and will last until February 3.
