Realizing that those fabrics weren’t just fabrics, Deauville, with the diligence and talent of her mother-in-law, was able to awaken the fabrics, resurrect them, wear them, and circulate the story.

“There was a lot of fabric sewn by my great-grandmother. Everyone knew it was a huge bonus because everything was hand-woven, so no one had thrown them away until now. A long time ago, my mother gave me those fabrics. Says you might use them somewhere. It’s been a long time that I’ve thought about how they can be made meaningful.

They are my history, my roots … I wanted not to give them to the mold. But the direct purpose of the quilt no longer seemed so attractive, ”said D. Lisauskienė.

From Deauville’s mother’s memories, all the houses were lined up by hand. These fabrics were mainly used for bedspreads and tablecloths, it turned out that even for funeral windows, they were covered with woven fabrics and ribbons for carriers.

“The most interesting thing is that the great-grandmother had six children, she took care of the farm, prepared food for the family every day and cooked the feed for the animals, so while it was boiling it was woven during that time and such beautiful fabrics were born from her own hands. of the great-grandmother. My mother still remembers weaving my great-grandmother’s machines, the spools of thread and the same place where it took place, the camera is called that ”, said D. Lisauskienė.

According to Dovilė, there was a shortage of new sofas at the time, which is why there were so many of those fabrics that were covered with couches and beds. These days, it is not difficult for us to buy furniture, but it is almost impossible to get handwoven materials.

“After bringing the fabrics home, I tried to cover the bed and put a tablecloth on it. Both options didn’t seem like it to me, but I really wanted to wear those fabrics and look at them again.

I don’t think there is anything worse than storing and storing something good in a closet, hidden deep where moths eat or mold accumulates. Then it is better to move to the museum “, – opened the young woman.

According to D. Lisauskienė, if this fabric has survived to this day, it must be brought to life and allowed to continue.

“We just realized that I would like to sew a garment. I also like to wear my grandmother’s clothes, and it would be possible to leave the children here, so that transfer would be meaningful. Oh, and I would love to put it on myself.

I really like that this fabric can be transformed. Old things are valuable, but they already need to take a new form. You see, those fabrics are perfectly beautiful, but introducing them to the modern man is no longer fun. And using it as a tablecloth would be a shame, as you will most likely damage it with some covered stains. And those fabrics are not like washing them in a washing machine. After all, fabrics are natural here. Linen and silk were probably woven. When you touch the fabric, you can immediately feel the silk threads, ”said Dovilė.

D. Lisauskienė tried to find a suitable clothing model for these fabrics.

“I was looking for the right model, haircut, composition, placement of many variants and thus this brilliant jacket was born. And when I saw the other cloth, I immediately said that there would be a kimono here. The pattern and material of the fabric itself dictated the oriental feel. I was sure and I was not mistaken, it is perfectly sewn ”, the woman was delighted.

Dovilė does not hide that she is eager to be able to wear this clothing inspired by the story: “It may not be everyday clothes, but I will definitely find opportunities to dress myself and I will wear them with great pride. And when someone wants to touch it, I can tell the whole story. It’s not realistic. “

After D. Lisauskiene modeled the clothes, his mother, Silvija Lisauskienė, sewed them.

“I trusted her one hundred percent because she sewed wedding dresses not only for me, but also for her two daughters and another march.

I remember when I took the fabrics and we both thought what to do with them and told them that I would like them to lie down in the form of clothes. Mamule testified and promised to sew. Me and at the beginning no no nobecause so much work, but that born “Oh yes!”, – opened D. Lisauskienė.

D. Lisauskienė is also fascinated by the fact that he not only resurrects the canvas itself, but also the story with it: “Everything comes to life. I started asking my mother: where, when, what was my grandmother’s name, where did she live. I started looking at the surviving photos and wanted to know the full story. Even those handkerchiefs, I didn’t even know her face.

By taking those things out and having them around, you relive all that ancient history and then he circulates and wants to tell others about it. And by wearing those clothes, you will pass everything on to your children. And grandma will always be by your side. It may be one of the ways our grandparents can reach out to their great-grandchildren, and the family history will live on with us. “
