“The Board of Turto bankas approved the transaction concerning the temporary lease of the Lukiškės prison complex. The winners of the tender are legal entities operating on the basis of joint activities, whose responsible partner is the company Aštuntas elementas, – said Jolita Skinulytė- Niakšu, communication consultant for Turto bankas.

Martynas Butkevičius, representative of the company Aštuntas elementas, did not comment further on future activities at the leased object.

“We have absolutely refrained from commenting so far. We plan to present everything to the public as soon as we are ready, because you can imagine the scale of the competition we won and how many things must be done to be open to the public,” said M. Butkevičius. BNS.

After verifying the only application for the contest announced in early February last week, its commission recognized the group as the winner and the final decision was made by the Turto bankas Board of Directors.

Lukiškės prison complex, which stood out in 1904, has six buildings: St. Nicholas Wonder Church, administrative, production facilities, prison, as well as a Soviet-era prison-hospital, a fence with a checkpoint. They are included in the Register of Cultural Assets and have the status of a national cultural asset.

The complex was used as a custodial institution until the summer of 2019, excursions were subsequently held here, and the prison was used as an attractive space for filming foreign series and films.
