The Vilnius leader promised to organize an open disco under the stars, if this year’s Lithuanian representatives “The Roop” and his song “Discoteque” are crowned as the winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The title of the song, Discoteque, would be organized complying with all the security requirements in force at that time, according to a press release issued to the media.
“I have no doubt that The Roop has every chance of winning Eurovision this year. The promise of an open-air disco is our proof of our special faith in victory and our support for this group. If” The Roop “brings the title of the winners, we will turn Vilnius into the largest open dance floor so that citizens and guests of the city can, to quote the lyrics of the song, “disco at your home” – said R. Šimašius. Vilnius is ready to hold a Eurovision Song Contest in 2022.

The “open disco” idea is also supported by “The Roop” musicians who create in Vilnius, whose song has already been loved by listeners in many European countries.
“Vilnius is our home and its streets are our dance floor. It would be incredibly rewarding if our song inspired such a celebration. I look forward to seeing how Vilnius could embody the atmosphere of ‘Discoteque’ and allow the magic of this song to unfold,” said the leader of The Roop, Vaidotas Valiukevičius.
An open-air disco would be part of an initiative to convert public spaces into community spaces. This unique event is expected to help people shed pandemic fatigue, drawing inspiration from this year’s Lithuanian representatives at Eurovision. This is another idea of how urban people can try new forms of communication and entertainment at a time when many ordinary things are still limited by a global pandemic.
Citizens will also be able to offer their ideas on how an outdoor disco could look like a victory at the Eurovision Song Contest. Original ideas can be shared on this website.
