“We have always taken the position that if we talk about reforming the tax system, it must be systemic. I don’t think we should focus on the benefits or some piecemeal changes. If so, do (ELTA required) a full system check. You have to prepare for that. It takes time and therefore, in my opinion, the idea that changes should be made not with the budget for next year, but with the budget for 2023 in mind, is consistent and understandable, ”V. Vasiliauskas told journalists on Friday.
“As the central bank has taken the position that systemic access is needed, it continues to do so. In my head, any change in the parameters is not timely, because the tax system is such a systematic mechanism where many interconnected vessels converge”, said the Chairman of the Board of LAC.
Finance Minister Gintarė Skaistė previously said that the tax benefit proposals will be planned after detailed discussions, therefore potential draft amendments to the law will be postponed to a later time, not to the next spring session of the Seimas.
According to G. Skaistė, now, with great uncertainty about the pandemic, it would be premature to adopt fiscal changes.
Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė emphasized that fiscal changes must be viewed in a general context.
