“This man served with dedication to Lithuania, the Kaunas district and its people. He believed in the ideals of freedom and defended them sincerely, says Kaunas District Mayor Valerijus Makūnas. – Until recently, we were happy that the Mačiuliai family was joined by a fourth grandson, Pijus, and today we lost Jonas. J. Mačiulis was a man of extremely high internal culture. By becoming a member of the Council, he was a true representative of his community, he did not miss a single meeting, he did not reject a single person. Always listening and in a hurry to extend a strong hand. Planting trees, transporting charity to children from low-income families, organizing community events was her greatest pleasure. They all stretched out alongside J. Mačiulis, not a single forester of the younger generation called him the Master. In the Karmėlava community, the elders’ conventions, the municipal council, the Lithuanian foresters union, Jonas was a moral authority everywhere. The fact that Jonas Mačiulis is an exceptional personality is also confirmed by the Seimas Medal of the Republic of Lithuania “Serve Lithuania” awarded to people for philanthropic activities, citizenship and volunteering. J. Mačiulis has repeatedly emphasized that his greatest happiness is being with people and seeing their lives change. He understood those changes as giving himself to others. It is a pity that he often did not skimp. Today, I bow to my friend and thank him for the parks planted, the honest work he has done for the country, and the invaluable lessons of humanity. Due to the painful loss, I express my condolences to the family of the deceased, the relatives and the entire community of the Kaunas district. “
